An Evening of Poetry
Listen to this show
On this week's show, we presented excerpts from the installation ceremony of well-known poet Rosanna Warren as the Emma Ann MacLachlan Metcalf Professor of Humanities at Boston University. The Professorship was endowed by former chairman of Boston University's Board of Trustees, the late Arthur G. B. Metcalf, in honor of his grandmother whom he credited for his lifelong interest in literature and the humanities. We also featured some of professor Warren's poetry read by her and English professor Geoffrey Hill.
Rosanna Warren is a lyric poet as well as translator of the poetry of Euripides, Giosu?arducci, and Pierre Reverdy. Her seminar in literary translation has become one of the most celebrated courses Boston University offers. In 1997, she was elected to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences.
